Synopsis

Feline's world is turned upside down when the brother she hasn't seen for years suddenly stands in front of her. He tells her he has cancer, and that he doesn't want treatment. She tries everything to change his mind, but he seems certain of his decision — and the film follows what that does to the bond between brother and sister.

Approach

Shot in 1.33:1 on digital cinema, in a rural setting of orchards, beehives and a small country house. References ranged from Bugonia and Die My Love to C'mon C'mon for the look, and Manchester by the Sea and Pink Moon for the tone: patient framing, natural light and macro work in the hives against quiet, close portraiture.

My contribution

Director of photography and camera operator on a full student crew, production coordination alongside Joran Rapol, and the edit — following the grade closely and steering it where needed.
